Installing the 6.9 idi to the frame

Engine is finally sitting in the frame!

It was a really busy day getting the engine in the Bronco. Had a lot of help and Tech support from Craig in Idaho!

First I want to thank Tyler, Austin, Dan, Marty and Mike for all the help. I couldn't do this without all of you support!!

So I purchased a new set of Motor mounts at O'Reillys Auto parts and we spent hours ttrying to get them to fit right. No Luck Called Craig in Idaho and he said they are junk! Find the ones we had. and wow it fit like a glove!

Go figure

Still have a lot of work to get done! I was an Awesome day!

Offroad Design Doubler Setup and build

I was pretty pissed the last few days trying to figure out how the NP 435 hooks up to Doubler and it was not making any sense. The instructions from ORD only shows the assembly for the doubler not the transmission to the 203. Also They don't send you a seal for the aluminum housing were the shaft goes thru. I searched YouTube no one shows the actual install of the doubler to the transmission. Lets fix this so I can show you it all and what you will need. Video will come. One BIG issue is to find the Ford NP 203 Full time 4 wheel drive Gear box. Power Nation did an Awesome video on the ORD assembly. But missed a few things I seen. I am posting this so you can watch a professional video of the build. My video's  are not as professional. I will be pointing out what they left out.

Here is an update for the Doubler video I added

1. In the video ( Time Line 5:43) when he installs aluminum adapter to the 203 transfer case you need to install a seal that was not supplied in the kit form ORD.  Its goes over the short shaft all the way to the bottom of the shaft. Seal Part # 472394                                                                      

2. In the video they don't show or even talk about how the NP 205 connects to your NP 435 Transmission or what you need.

The good and the bad. When you install this doubler, the bad is your Front Drive shaft will need to be 8" Longer and the Rear will need to be 8" Shorter. The angles will still be correct. Basically you will have the same drive line geometry as a Bronco with full-time Four Wheel Drive that had a 203 in it.

Started working on the NP 205 today. Cleaner her up. Ordering the gasket and seal kit. I had the tcase rebuilt years back. I looked at the bearing and the oil all looks new still.

I completed the NP435 clean up

I like Offroad Design Doubler Setup, But as a company they SUCK ASS! I call for information and they SUCK ASS. I need the direction on how to modify the shiftier forks and get an a stupid response We lost the direction on how to do it! REALLY, but we would be happy to sell you ones we have done. I will tell you JB Fab work's is awesome from what I have seen. and they have everything. I wish I had talked to them first.

Axles, Bakes, Springs and Shocks The build is moving

I was never happy with the braking of the Bronco. One time I was on the freeway heading to Tracy and I was pulling a small 1968 camping trailer and a Diesel truck push a car to my lane and I couldn't stop so I was forced to move over to the next lane and I hit a late 2000 small pickup truck and opened the side bed like a can opener. I only had a scratch on my front bumper. I have owned and drove this Bronco for 1987 til the engine blew in 2008. So I never liked the brakes and I wanted some thing better.

My Dad had a 1979 Ford F150 4X4 and he put a Mark Williams Enterprise 3rd member with a  Detroit Locker. It always squealed around corners and at times it would lock up  hard. I borrowed the truck one day. I made a left hand turn and I snapped the axle. I Knew I didn't want that or an axle that was not free floating and a better locker. This was around 1989.

I talked to Craig about changing a few things. Craig said pull your 9" out put in a Dana 60, Change your Dana 44 to 8 lug and use the F250 brakes.

9. Rear Springs are from Wild Horses. Great place and all the guy are very helpful! I used the Flex-Master Leaf Spring pair 4 Inch 9-Pack (791140) I also purchased the Extreme duty U-Bolts (791195) and the Super Shackles (791091) and the Spring and Shackle Bushing Kits (791198)
